In
Italian there are some verbs that are used like the verb “piacere”
at
the 3rd
person
and that are preceded by indirect pronouns.
The most common are:
Bastare (to be
enough, to be sufficient)
Mancare (to lack,
to miss)
Occorrere (to be necessary)
Sembrare / Parere (to look, to seem)
Servire (to need)
Here
are some examples that will help you to understand how to use these
verbs.
- Ti bastano questi soldi per comprare le scarpe? (Is this money enough for you to buy shoes?)
- Il tempo non mi basta mai. (I never have enough time)
- Mi mancano i miei genitori. (I miss my parents)
- Non ti manca il tuo paese? (Don't you miss your country?)
- Quanto tempo ti occorre / ti serve per finire il lavoro? (How long does it take you to finish the job?)
