When
I talked about “passato prossimo”, I explained how to form past
participle in Italian. However, many Italian verbs don't follow this grammar rule since they have an irregular past participle. Here are some of these verbs.
- Dove hai messo il telefonino? = Where did you put your mobile phone?
- Dante è nato nel 1265. = Dante was born in 1265
- Le ho offerto un passaggio, ma non ha accettato. = I offered her a ride, but she didn't accept
- Laura ha perso il portafoglio e ha denunciato lo smarrimento alla polizia. = Laura lost her wallet and reported the loss to the police
- Ti è piaciuto il film? = Did you enjoy the movie?
- La bambina ha pianto tutta la notte. = The little girl cried all night
- Hai preso lo sciroppo per la tosse? = Did you take the cough syrup?
- Abbiamo cucinato un buon risotto con i funghi che abbiamo raccolto. = We cooked a good risotto with the mushrooms we picked
- Shirley ha richiesto il permesso di soggiorno, ma hanno respinto la sua domanda. = Shirley applied for a residence permit, but they rejected her application
- Con la crisi mi hanno ridotto lo stipendio. = With the crisis they reduced my salary
- Perché non hai risposto alla mia domanda? = Why didn't you answer my question?
- Ho rotto un bicchiere, lavando i piatti. = I have broken a glass while washing the dishes
- Carlotta ha scelto l'abito da sposa. = Carlotta has chosen her wedding dress
- Avete scritto la lettera per il capo? = Did you write the letter for the boss?
- Hanno sospeso la partita per il maltempo. = They have stopped the game because of the bad weather
- Questo mese ho speso troppi soldi. = This month I spent too much money
- Siamo stati a casa tutto il giorno. = We stayed at home all day
- Che cosa è successo? = What happened?
- Isabella ha tinto i capelli di biondo. = Isabella died her hair blond
- I terroristi hanno ucciso otto persone. = The terrorists killed eight people
- Perché non sei venuto al concerto? = Why didn't you come to the concert?
- Chissà chi ha vinto cinque milioni di euro alla lotteria. = I wonder who won five million euros in the lottery
