In the
lesson about “passato prossimo”, I have explained that Italian
past participle can be formed by replacing the final endings of the
infinitive (-ARE, -ERE, -IRE) with: -ATO, -UTO
and -ITO. But there are Italian verbs that don't follow
this rule.
- Ho aggiunto un po' di sale nella zuppa. (I added a little salt to the soup)
- Non ho aperto la finestra perché faceva freddo. (I didn't open the window because it was cold)
- Abbiamo atteso il treno per due ore. (We waited for the train for two hours)
- Avete bevuto qualcosa? (Did you drink something?)
- Hai commesso un errore a lasciare tuo marito. (You made a mistake leaving your husband)
- La banca mi ha concesso un prestito. (The bank granted me a loan)
- Non ho ancora concluso il discorso. (I havent' finished my speech yet)
- Il ladro ha corrotto i poliziotti. (The thief bribed the policemen)
- Hanno cosparso di sale la strada ghiacciata. (They sprinkled salt on the icy road)
- Ho convinto Gianni a venire alla festa. (I persuaded Gianni to come to the party)
- L'insegnante ha corretto i compiti. (The teacher corrected the homework)
- Avete deciso dove andare in vacanza? (Have you decided where to go on holiday?)
- Mi hai deluso. (You disappointed me)
- Hanno difeso la città dagli invasori. (They difended the city from invaders)
- Monet ha dipinto quadri bellissimi. (Monet painted beautiful paintings)
- Perché non mi hai detto la verità? (Why didn't you tell me the truth?)
- Hai disdetto l'appuntamento dal dentista? (Did you cancel your dentist appointment?)
- I cittadini hanno eletto il nuovo sindaco. (The citizens elected the new Mayor)
- Il Presidente del Consiglio ha emesso un nuovo decreto. (The Prime Minister has issued a new decree)
- Hai espresso il tuo parere. Adesso lasciami parlare. (You have expressed your opinion. Now let me speak)
- Non hanno ancora estinto il debito. (They haven't paid off their debt yet)
- Che cosa hai fatto ieri sera? (What did you do last night?)
- Hanno interrotto lo spettacolo per un'ora. (They interrupted the show for an hour)
- Questo mese ho letto tanti libri. (I read a lot of books this month)
